Madame Oiseau Fine Chocolates was founded in 2003, by the owner, and French Chocolatière, Sandrine May.
Sandrine, who is self-taught, had demonstrated an early passion and creativity in her mother’s kitchen in Picardy, France, making truffles and caramels from her early teens- her mother Francine still recalls the early experiments with her best saucepans!

Sandrine’s passion continued into her adult life and her commercial venture was launched on an unsuspecting Romney Marsh public when she opened her first shop- Madame Oiseau in 2003. This was an immediate hit with the locals and soon built a reputation much further afield for the most delicious chocolates made by an outstanding artisan chocolatière.
Her skill was soon recognised when she secured Liberty plc as a customer when they opened their chocolate shop off Regent’s Street. |

| This was followed by subsequent recognition in the Times, Vogue, Red, other publications, the local press and BBC TV and ITV features. Sandrine’s greatest plaudits are however her customers and she was delighted to receive awards for her use of local ingredients when she was nominated for Best Specialist Food Shop, which she won, for two consecutive years. |

The business has been relocated to Canterbury, Kent, where Sandrine has become known as “the Chocolate Lady”. Madame Oiseau now has a small dedicated team who work hard to keep their customers happy by offering not only the best chocolates you can buy but also by offering an extra special personal service. As a result Madame Oiseau, has built its own following and the team will identify many of the regulars by their favourite chocolate; some customers get so hooked on a particular chocolate that they will always get their regular fix of fine chocolates. |

Sandrine’s palette is tested on every creation to ensure it meets her high standards. The sourcing of the highest quality ingredients and making the chocolates for immediate sale means that when you buy a Madame Oiseau chocolate it will be as fresh as can be found, not stored for an age in some warehouse.
